A Soft Trapezoid Silhouette in Solid Oak
The Ashdown is a contemporary solid oak headboard defined by its soft trapezoid form — wider at the base, subtly tapering toward the top, and finished with rounded corners that soften the geometric shape. Handcrafted in The Old Joinery, Berkhamsted, it offers a clean, architectural presence while retaining a warm, natural character.
The profile is cut from 100% solid European oak, shaped with crisp tapering lines along the sides and softened radiused edges to create a balanced, calming silhouette. The taper creates a quiet sense of upward lift, making the headboard visually lighter while still feeling substantial and grounded.
Each headboard is hand-finished to emphasise the natural grain and tonal movement of real oak. The surface can be completed in a choice of matte oils or waxes, allowing you to tailor the final tone — from pale Scandinavian hues to deeper, richer oiled oak shades.
